Chiropractic

Many musculoskeletal pains can be treated successfullythrough chiropractic care

Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-surgical method of treating or preventing health problems associated with the body’s nervous, muscular and skeletal system by manual manipulation of the joints of the body, especially the spinal column. Doctors of chiropractic are primary health care providers responsible for the assessment of their patients and the diagnosis of their presenting complaint. Many chiropractors are also trained in non-invasive complementary fields, such as nutritional and wellness counselling, and exercise therapy. Chiropractic is a regulated health profession recognized by statute in all Canadian provinces and American states. The benefits of chiropractic care are well recognized by other health practitioners. Chiropractic is one of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Canada with over 5,000 practicing chiropractors. Approximately four and a half million Canadians use the services of a chiropractor each year. Chiropractors are also highly trained in the recognition of other diseases/disorders that may fallout of their scope of practice. In this way, they diagnose and refer to another more suitable professional

What Is Chiropractic Manipulation?

Chiropractic spinal manipulation (A.K.A.an adjustment) is a drug-free, non-invasive manual procedure which utilizes the highly-refined skills developed during four intensive years of chiropractic education. It involves the chiropractor’s placement of his/her hands onto restricted areas of movement on a patient’s spine,or other joints of the body, followed by a gentle thrust or impulse designed to re-establish proper movement of these restricted joints.Poorly moving joints can create a reaction in surrounding tissues, such as ligaments, muscles and nerves, which may result in pain, dysfunction and muscular spasm. These are the prevalent complaints of many chiropractic patients. Spinal manipulation, as practiced by trained chiropractors, is a highly controlled procedure, which rarely causes discomfort. A chiropractor will modify any procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient, and to accommodate different body types and tolerance thresholds in general. Most often, patients report positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment
